Course Elective 18 - Introductory statistical data analysis for geoscientists using Matlab/Octave

Module Objectives:

This course is aimed at conveying the basic principles of statistical data analysis in geoscience.

  • Graphical and numerical description
  • Probability
  • The Normal Distribution
  • Inference
  • Analysis of Variance
  • Statistics with two variables
  • The bivariate scatter
  • The Correlation coefficient
  • Bivariate regression
